Robert Davis, a theatre consultant with Ziegler Associates in New York City, has declared the State Theatre of Ithaca to be “one of the best preserved theatres in America still awaiting restoration.”

We are committed to bringing the grandeur back to the State Theatre of Ithaca. In the coming months, and as our new organization operating the facility finds its legs and begins to grow, we will announce plans to move forward with a new Capital Campaign.

Many architects and consultants have toured our building and provided numerous recommendations for not only restoration, but for streamlined space usage. When we determine the best course, a restoration plan will be announced and the work will begin.

While we are not fully restored, we are very much an operating theatre. We may be a bit rough around the edges, but there is still a great deal of life in this old space.

Perhaps most important to our restoration effort is the need to build an endowment for the continued support of business operations. As you might imagine, the overhead of operating a building of this magnitude is daunting. A robust endowment would secure our future and guarantee our ability to continue to support the overall quality of life of our community.
