The State Theatre of Ithaca is literally a treasure.
In a period when grand old venues were being torn down right and left, this region had the unique foresight to rescue a cultural landmark and we are reaping the rewards of that today with what is easily one of the premier showplaces in central New York.
I sat down with Casey Martin, Director of Marketing for State Theatre, Inc. (the 501c3 nonprofit organization that manages the venue) to talk about its history and the upcoming 5th annual "Benefit My State" event happening on Saturday, May 2nd. This gala show will feature The New York Rock, The Blind Spots and Sim Redmond Band - three of the region's finest acts on one stage, to help keep the State Theatre of Ithaca afloat!
More info on the Benefit My State event can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1612380735660393/ - great music for a great cause.
Tickets are going fast, so be sure to get yours soon!
