Consummate British rockers GOMEZ will make
their Ithaca debut on April 1st at the State
Theatre. They’ll be joined by the highly
regarded JOSH RITTER for this special engagement.
Gomez seem to be NPR’s World Cafe’s
favorite band. Their tracks “See the
World” and “Hamoa Beach”
from How We Operate dominated their shows
not to mention the television airwaves. The
band hails from Southport, England. Their
first album, Bring It On, won the distinguished
Mercury Prize in 1998. Since then they have
released five studio albums, several single
and B-side compilations and are prepping their
new album, A New Tide, for release just days
before the Ithaca gig.

Josh Ritter was born in Moscow, Idaho but
has travelled through such varied places as
Ohio and Rhode Island while growing as a songwriter.
His albums have always been critics favorites
and he’s been through Ithaca before,
playing at Cornell a few years ago as well
as in downtown clubs. His albums have included
the excellent 2007 offering The Historical
Conquests of Josh Ritter and 2006’s
The Animal Years. His breakout album The Golden
Age of Radio and then Hello Starling secured
his place at the front of the new singer-songwriter
brigade and his skills far outpace his peers.
